Reimagining Middle School

careers at millennium

Our aim is to re-imagine middle school for the 21st century. Instead of seeing the middle school years as “awkward” and “difficult,” we think they’re the most important years to prepare students for the path to happy and successful adulthood. We’ve built a team of leading educators, researchers, and adolescent development psychologists, and together we’re designing a new model for middle school: one that combines highly engaging academics with an approach that is social, personal, and rooted in the real world.

2025-26 Opening

Director of Enrollment Management & Communications

millennium guides

We call our teachers “Guides” to indicate how we see the ideal learning relationship with students. We support the shift from “sage on the stage” to “guide by the side” and beyond. We are looking for a Guide with personal values like these:

  • Soulful: Through life’s adventures you’ve developed some self-awareness and a comfort being yourself. You’ve had to face personal challenges and have come out humble and with greater clarity about your path. You’ve developed personal habits and mindfulness practices that support you in continuing to grow. You know the content we teach is important, and you know that the ways of being we teach are more important.
  • Quirky: You don’t have to wear the “teacher mask.” You can be quirky and build trust by revealing who you really are. You value authenticity.
  • Savvy: You know what you’re getting yourself into. You’ve worked in classroom or group settings and relish the experience of guiding adolescents. You see middle school as a time of transformation, not just intellectually, but also across social, emotional, physical, ethical, and creative intelligences.
  • Creative: You are continually inventing and testing different ways to follow your purpose and challenge your students. You don’t want to do the same thing every day, and would rather keep evolving by concocting thoughtful experiments.
